Falls of the Ohio Foundation – A New Look

October 18, 2024 | Foundation News | 4 Min Read

After thoughtful consideration and strategic planning, and with guidance from a team of volunteers dedicated to our mission, the Falls of the Ohio Foundation is proud to inform our community of the rebranding of our organization.

Our new brand reflects the evolution of our organization and embodies our vision for the future. This transformation includes a meaningfully refreshed logo, color scheme, and a modernized website (coming soon!) that will enhance our communication with you and improve the visitor experience for everyone who uses our website for information, resources, event news, and other updates. What our new brand isn’t doing is changing our focus on elevating and preserving the important natural and historical resources of the Falls of the Ohio.

Why Rebrand?

The decision to rebrand was driven by our commitment to better serve our community and to align our image with our mission and values. This rebrand is the first image refresh for the organization in our 37-year history and marks a commitment to the Falls of the Ohio State Park as well as the region we recognize as the Falls of the Ohio area. We believe this new identity will help us:

  • Better represent our mission and goals: Our new brand more accurately reflects the scope of our work and the impact we aim to achieve as a nonprofit foundation focused on working with our partners to support the region’s natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources.
  • Increase our visibility and reach: A stronger, more cohesive brand will help us connect with more supporters, partners, and beneficiaries. With an improved website and more user-friendly online presence, we aim to keep you better informed and more engaged.

What’s New?

The primary difference you will notice is our logo, which is inspired by the Ohio River’s flowing water and the shape of the area that is fondly referred to as the Falls of the Ohio region. The shape of the mark itself is expressed through four lines, representing each of the surrounding communities: Clarksville, New Albany, Jeffersonville, and Louisville. The lines intersect at the Falls of the Ohio State Park and their reciprocal quality reflect the interconnectedness of the region where the Falls creates a distinct unifying juncture point, while distinguishing this crossroads of nature and history, which extends from the State Park outward to each of the neighboring communities.

Through the video below you can see this new logo, its relationship to the shape of the Ohio River at the Falls of the Ohio, and the four communities that make up our region. Our goal is to support each of these four communities and their efforts to preserve and elevate the Falls area’s natural, historical, and recreational resources.

An Updated Mission and Vision

  • Our Mission: Inspire a sense of wonder in the Falls of the Ohio region through education, preservation, and exploration.
  • Our Vision: A connected region that stewards our natural landscapes and historical stories.
  • Our Tagline: Explore the extraordinary.
  • Colors: Our new color scheme is inspired by the Falls’ unique natural resources.

What’s Next?

Over the coming weeks, you will start to see our new branding slowly be adopted across all our materials and communications. Once the website is completed, we will make a formal announcement of the rebrand and invite our entire community to help us honor our history, steward our future, and to join us helping preserve the Falls’ unique resources.

As a supporter, you make all that we do possible. You are a vital part of our organization and I hope you find pride in our new look and feel, while seeing your community reflected in our work. I welcome any questions or feedback and invite you to contact me at (812) 283-4999 or kenton@fallsoftheohio.org to share. We are immensely grateful for your continued dedication to the Falls of the Ohio Foundation.

Sincerely,

Kenton Wooden
