Teacher Professional Development

Annually, through a partnership with the Falls of the Ohio State Park and the Falls of the Ohio Foundation supports professional development workshops that provide teachers with opportunities to learn about geology and the natural environment. These free workshops are made possible by the contributions of the Sam Shine Foundation, Patty Cress Educational Experience Fund, and CenterPoint Energy Foundation.

Spaces for these workshops are limited and applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more below!

The Environmental Stewardship Project – June 16, 2026

Dr. Kate Bulinski of Bellarmine University and friends will be offering the professional development workshop “The Environmental Stewardship Project.” This project caps at eighteen educators.  We will provide content and materials for hands-on activities/actions involving environmental science in the classroom and on the school grounds..

The Waldron Shale Project – June 17, 2026

Chris Jozefowicz of Jefferson Community and Technical College, Kate Bulinski from Bellarmine University and Mr. Alan Goldstein, retired interpretive naturalist at the Falls of the Ohio State Park, have teamed up to offer a professional development workshop “The Waldron Shale Project: Fossil identification and analysis for K-12 Science Classrooms.” This project is limited to just eighteen teachers.  We will train participants to perform a hands-on inquiry-based lesson using fossils in their classroom.

Project WET & Project WILD- July 18 2026

This summer one-day professional development workshop ” Project WET” and “Project WILD” will offer ready to use lessons on environmental science and sustainability for your classroom or to enhance your programs.
