DESCRIPTION:Join one of our naturalists at heart volunteers for a Halloween art program. We will provide a blank paper mâché mask to be decorated with natural materials or painted. Use your imagination to create something scary or interesting. 1 hour. Meets in the rotunda. The $7.00 program fee is covered by a grant from the Falls of the Ohio Foundation (includes admission to the exhibit gallery).

DESCRIPTION:Join us for this member’s only event to learn about the geology of the Falls from Dr. Lee Phillips. Grab a wine or beer from the bar and cozy up to our campfire to listen to Dr. Phillips explain the unique geology of the Falls of the Ohio area.  \n\n\n\nBio: Dr. Lee Phillips serves as Special Assistant to the Provost at the University of Louisville and is an experienced higher education leader with expertise in academic administration\, undergraduate research\, strategic planning\, and institutional effectiveness. A geoscientist by training\, he earned degrees from the University of Iowa and UNC Wilmington and has held leadership positions across the University of North Carolina System. His work has secured more than $9 million in external funding and advanced student success\, faculty engagement\, and high-impact educational practices. Phillips earned a Ph.D. in Geoscience from the University of Iowa and degrees in Geology from UNC Wilmington. His geological research has focused on sedimentary geology\, stratigraphy\, and paleoenvironments\, and he has taught geology at the university level for more than two decades. \n\n\n\nExclusively for Falls members. SUMMARY:Fossil Bed Discovery Hike\, Falls of the Ohio State Park
DESCRIPTION:Discover the wonders of the fossil beds with a park naturalist. We will look at Devonian marine fossils and discuss how they lived\, what they ate\, how/why they were preserved. We will walk down 60 steps to fossil beds and return via ramp. (Or use ramp if participants have any limitations with steps.) Please wear shoes suitable for walking on rocks. Meets on the Observation Deck. 1 hour. Program is free with the $2.00 parking fee.
