Earth Day at the Falls

Please note, this is no longer a paddling event. Due to the predicted rise of the water the event will only be on shore now.

What: An Earth Day celebration of “Our Ohio River” and cleaning up the Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area.

Who: Earth Day and Ohio River Enthusiasts (Event organized by River City Paddle Sports)

Why: To celebrate the beauty of the Ohio River while cleaning up part of the river trash.

Friday April 22 – Shawnee Park/Boat Ramp Cleanup and Press Event Information:
9:00 am: Arrive
9:30 am: Press Event at Boat Ramp
With Mayor Fischer, Congressman John Yarmuth, and Jean West start the Earth Day festivities.
We will have a presentation of the Steering the Fork Award, The Ripple Effects Photo Contest and an introduction to the Falls of the Ohio Foundation all along with a few songs by John Gage.
10:00: Cleanup begins of Shawnee Park and the Louisville Loop

Friday April 22 – Falls of the Ohio Cleanup Information:
10:00-10:30 am: Falls of the Ohio State Park – registration and information.
10:30 am – 1:00 pm: Clean up Falls of the Ohio State Park

Anyone who cleans for at least two hours will receive free admission to the Interpretive Center. Artist Al Gorman will also be on site creating a found-art sculpture!

How: No registration is required but participants will need to complete some information when they arrive and before beginning their cleanup.
