Origin Park

Reimagining Falls of the Ohio! Origin Park is one of the boldest and most visionary urban park projects in the U.S. It will revitalize the relationship between the Southern Indiana communities of Clarksville and New Albany to the Ohio River.

The 630-acre linear park will restore natural ecosystems, preserve scenic landscapes, provide outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities, and tell the incredible story of the Falls of the Ohio area and its history and culture. Stretching from Falls of the Ohio State Park to the K & I bridge in New Albany, this seamless park system along the Ohio River will integrate features such as the Ohio River Greenway, world class Devonian Period fossil beds, the National Wildlife Conservation Area, the site where Lewis & Clark launched the Corps of Discovery, Lewis & Clark National Historical Trail and the George Rogers Clark homesite. Origin Park will make Falls of the Ohio a regional destination.

Origin Park’s design is “flood resilient” and will allow people to experience the park even when the Ohio River periodically floods. Infinity Loop is a 2.8 mile elevated trail where bicyclists and walkers can wind through Origin Park in all seasons. The nonprofit River Heritage Conservancy, led by Executive Director Scott Martin, is overseeing the development of the park. This incredible story is unfolding as fundraising and land acquisition for the project continues.
